Aussie

Aussie is loyal to his species; he's next in line to lead his herd, and is physically ready for it, even if he gets nervous at times. When he's confronted with a problem that seems too big for him to surmount, or with a particularly devilish monster of the dark, he shrinks back and shakes, unable to come up with a proper solution until someone else does for him. Most other times, he's proud and high-minded, keeping an eye over his future herd with as much grace and honor as he can muster, despite his energetic tendencies. As the Prince of the herd, his first duty and main job until promotion and wartime is to gather the herd to a safe area.

Aussie was born and raised in another land. As a youth, he was separated from his family after a pack of hyenas attacked. Not knowing if his herd made it out alive, he wandered for days, nearly starving before he was spotted by a local Goennec and accepted into the herd. To this day, his accented voice remains, marking him as different.

For the longest time, he's had his eyes on Celestina. Every year, he challenges her, hoping to finally win and be able to take her as his own. Every year, he's the one that's beaten up the worst by the angry female, because he refuses to just give up. Under his fur, he's covered in scratches and bruises from her, sometimes limping after she's knocked him off of a large boulder a couple of times. Unofficially, though, he has claimed her; he defeats all of the other lusting males. He doesn't understand why she refuses everyone in the herd, and where she goes when she disappears for long periods of time, especially when he knows of her desire to live well, and has the means to ensure that her lifelong desire comes true.

Because of his status and the fact that the leader brothers are getting old and feeble, he is the leader in the case that the herd must be militarized. He tries to hold up the mask a leader must wear, sometimes slipping and needing to retreat in the few practice battles between local herds in preparation for the darkness that they all see and feel. As the "general" of sorts, he has to come up with a source of bravery, something to protect- and so he has burned Celestina's image in the back of his mind. It pained him greatly when the brothers banished her, and he had to lead a charge to get her and her fellows off of the herd's lands. For a long time, he limped, claiming he had twisted his front left paw in a hole during the chase, when it was actually a physical manifestation of his heartache.

During Celestina's [As will always be her name for him] absence, the brothers died and he took the leadership position. Oddly mateless, he simply keeps order in the herd while he rests in a nearby alcove, depressed. When a large cat appears, asking him to join a band of rebels, he shrugs and accepts, not really caring about any losses the herd might incur. Upon seeing that Celestina is in the group, his fire returns, as does his desire to win.

His life wish is to get that which he will never- Celestina.

FYI- He will be written as having an accent. "G'day, mate, how it goin'? Whot a grait day!" and the like. It might be necessary for you to read his speech with a Steve Irwin voice in your head, because that's what I'll be doing as I write it. So, yeah, I'm misspelling things on purpose- the Australian accent doesn't sound American, I won't right it as such.
